Happy days!

I wish I was a glow worm,

A glow worm's never glum,

'Cos how can you be grumpy
When the sun shines out your bum!

I hope they find it flattering endearing when I say that this poem reminds me of two of my favourite bloggers/you tubers. The ladies I am thinking of just always seem to look on the bright side of things *sing with me... Always look on the bright side of life, de doo de do de do de do* They just make me smile in general...

So let me introduce.... (Imagine suspense here, and imagine its killing you.....)

LOUISE from Sprinkle of Glitter!

She has a youtube channel and a blog and you just can't help but feel happy watching her. She has all these lovely little british sayings and is just generally a lovely person. I have never encountered anyone so positive and happy. It is a lifestyle choice and its one that I am planning on embracing from now on! Go check out Louise, you wont be sorry! (Especially some of her videos with Zoe, the laughter is infectious!)

Now for my other lovely inspirational lady.. (again... the suspense... don't pee yourself.....)

MARIE from Bitsandclips

This lovely lady shares her life with her bebble (baby girl Scarlett) and her youtube channel is just a lovely place to be! Marie and Louise get on rather well and it is easy to see why, its like she is Louise's sister from another mister! Slap a British accent on this lady, give her some quirky sayings and you would have two pees in a pod. Also Marie has just started up a blog and once again its just lovely. If you have children or generally like vlogging videos I would recommend Marie.

So whenever you are feeling glum, just go check out these lovely ladies, they will make you smile!

Scrumptious Saturday!

Ah, the weekend. A time to relax and enjoy.

This weekend just been, I have done just that. It was probably rates as one of the best weekends I have had this year. A friend and I decided to go on a rather ambitious walk it was almost 12km (around 7.5 miles for you folk who don't work in km). It was a gorgeous summers (well technically spring but it felt like summer!) day, so my friend Kate and I set out!  Here are some snaps from our walk...

A pile of rocks we found along our walk, Kate got to the top
but my crippling fear of  heights only got me this far!
The gorgeous 'Southern coast' walk
A propeller? Rutter? At the Wahine park, remembering
those tho died in the wahine disaster.
Read more about it here.
Drink and snack stops were essential, Baby S didn't like
sitting in her pram that long so half way into our walk
we had to call Daddy.
We waited at this gorgeous beach for Daddy to come, and watched the people
fish and play on the beach while Baby S played with some shells and stones
We played on the beach once Dad arrived and he took
Baby S for her first paddle in the water!
She didn't care for it too much and kept bringing up her
little legs, the water was quite chilly!
So instead Daddy and daughter went for a nice
walk along the beach

The walk was lovely, and the perfect way to spend a day with friends and family. I have a confession, I am not usually so into fitness. Actually I am never really into fitness, and to be honest this walk was more because it was preempting something else that was happening later that day...
CHOCOLATE BUFFET!!!

Yes, you heard right. A Buffet dedicated entirely to chocolatey treats, and it was GLORIOUS! I thought I had a copy of the menu, but I didn't instead you will just have to look at the glory and understand why I needed to take such a long walk! (Although I did really enjoy the walk, promise!)

Round one, ooooo YUM!

Round two, DOUBLE YUM

Pina-Colada mousse - YUM YUM YUM
Sadly I actually missed some shots of what I had, there were crepes, icecream, candy, truffles, fresh fruit, nuts and a chocolate fountain. Don't fear I didn't finish EVERYTHING on my plates, I tasted some and shared some of them (ok and I also finished a few as well!) but they were pretty small servings and the whole idea we had as a group was to go, not judge each other and eat ourselves into a sweet coma. Mission (deliciously) completed.

I doubt my walk even worked off half of what I ate, but I don't care, I loved every minute of it. Luckily it is an annual event. Until next year chocolate buffet we will part in such sweet (emphasis on the sweet) sorrow.

Late Night (headache reducing) Cravings...

It's late, (well late if you are me, it's 10pm) and I am hungry. While I go through the internet and look up my favourite bloggers and you-tubers I made myself a delicious snack! Greek yogurt with mixed berries and a sprinkle of cinnamon! Did you know that Cinnamon actually has some awesome health benefits such as a natural remedy for headaches! Read more about the health benefits here. It also adds a delicious extra something to dishes, I didn't use any sugar in this and the cinnamon added a lovely sweetness! Its like my secret ingredient!

Now I am no health freak, in fact I am far from it. But I love the taste of cinnamon and a sprinkle here and there just adds flavour! So next time you order that cappuccino and they ask cinnamon or chocolate which will you choose?

Its too a nice a day, I have to entertain,
My in-laws are here, Holiday recovery,
I flew in last night,
And its fine you have a sick baby..

This pretty much sums up how my 'goals' have been going. I have had a million excuses and although I have been wearing make-up more often, I have been entertaining family, exhausted with a sick baby (over 2 weeks now!) and generally making up lots of other excuses. I have been an all round Lazy Lady! Not only with goals but with housework (in-laws love to help out) and general up keep. Tomorrow is a new day, and in fact today was better than some. Baby is getting better, didn't vomit from coughing last night or stay up all night (Yay! first night in a wee while).

Although my partner did tell me I was looking thinner tonight, so maybe I have been ok?
Are you a procrastinator like me?
Let me know the lamest excuse you have used!

Home Decor Wishlist.

I rent. I also like things I buy to be affordable. Most of my furniture and furnishings have been cheap. It is the way I am built and while I am a SAHM (Stay at home mama) it is the way I will stay. Although lately I have become very unhappy with the way my home is presented. I like things to be pretty. And although none of the wall colours are particularly to my taste, I have to work with them. I have decided that accessories are the way to go. Although these are cheap and I hope to pick them up relatively soon, these are some of my home decor wants at the moment. I will also keep an eye out at my local charity shops, who knows what beauties I will find in there!

The following items I found on the Briscoes website, bear in mind that these are sale prices, but lets face it, who ever buys things full price at Briscoes?

Glass Hurricane candle holder $3.50

Kas Basket Weave Cushion $23.99
Kas Sawyer Cushions $20.99

Bamboo Belly Lantern $12.50

Table Fair Bern Cream Table Lamp $35.00
I have decided to stick to pretty neutral tones as the colour scheme can change if we move house. But I want to make my home more lived in, more lighting things that match, or at leas compliment each other. The frames I have don't go, they are just the ones that have been given to me.

Also I want to follow the odd numbers rule. All things look better in odd numbers. So I have 5 picture frames on my mantle piece, which looks OK but they are mismatched. I would like to get them to match and compliment each other. I will be making small changes to my home over the next coming months, and I am hoping to do some DIY.

Comment below if you would like me to show you what I am doing and how I am doing it as I go,  I would also love any  tips.

Motivation Vacation

Hmmm... I have guests coming.

The guest room is not set up.

They arrive tonight.

I have a lot of things to do.

Baby is finally sleeping.

So why aren't I doing them?

Have you ever had days where you NEED to get something done, but you just don't. Then you end up running around like a headless chicken trying to get it finished. The funny thing is, as I write this, I know exactly what I am doing. Procrastinating. Ugh, that horrible P word. I do it a lot. Too much in fact. I do it when I really shouldn't, yet even when I realise I am doing it.... I do it a little more. My motivation has taken a vacation (ooo I'm a poet and I didn't know it).

Now I am sitting here singing this.....

However, still lacking motivation... So can you motivate me?

Holidays and Hospitals.

I was so excited about spending a week with my parents. We started our trip last Tuesday and I was so thankful that my 9month old monkey was a perfect traveler, even though our direct flight got cancelled and we were re-booked on a flight that had a stopover, making it an hour longer and therefore an hour past Miss S's bedtime. Needless to say I was worried about how Miss S would cope with the trip.

However, I was pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely dad to be next to us on the first flight, who was more than happy for Miss S to grab and pull at him and give him hi-fives. The second, we got moved to a row just for ourselves and she slept, we only had one incident where she pulled the mans hair in front of us! OOPS
!

Miss S, sick but happy just hours before she
went down hill.
We got there safe and sound, and then it started. It started off small, not a big deal, but day by day it got bigger until the Friday when it came to a head. I am talking about Miss S's cold. By Friday the poor wee button was miserable, snuffly, feverish, vomiting, weepy eyes and unable to be settled. Friday afternoon I tried my old doctor, and then my father's doctor who was able to see her last minute.
Miss S after a nap and waiting to go to the
doctors office.

I was in the doctor's exam room all of five minutes before he turned and said to me, "I think I will admit her to the hospital" My. Heart. Sank. I panicked, I wanted to cry. The worst part was that the doctor was INCREDIBLY slow at typing up the letter I needed to take. Then it was a quick call to my partner and to my mama and we were on our way to the children's ward at the hospital.

Once there, they retook her temperature and heart rate, both which were extremely high. From there we had lines put in, fluid given, catheters put in, x-rays and all sorts. The worst thing, I had to hold her throughout, and we both cried at nearly every procedure. Miss S has never been sick before, wait, I lie. Miss S had a runny nose for about 2 days at 4 months old. Now, I was faced with this. I had to hold her down, cuddle her and comfort her when she didn't want to be. The poor we button didn't know what to do with herself and eventually just cried herself into exhaustion in my arms.

A very sad and sick bubba
Calming a bubba down after getting an IV put in :(
Getting a chest x-ray :(
Miss S at the hospital asleep on her mama

Her wee paddle where the IV line was :(

Awake the next morning. Drugs kicking in,
feeling much better and checking out the
stuff she has attached to her!

We had some visitors outside our hospital room, two
ducks that we fed chips, Miss S loved watching
them!

Our holiday did not get off to a good start, I only hope it can get better. If you have ever had a wee one sick you know how hard it is. All you want to do is take it away and you can't. She is on antibiotics now (which I have to force into her, she hates taking them) and slowly on the mend. We went to my Nana's 80th Birthday today (the reason we were here) and she handled it pretty well.

Have you ever had a wee one sick? Any tips on getting her medication into her?

Leaving on a jet plane...

Today I have to pack. Baby S and I are off on holiday tomorrow for a week. I have never been away with baby S before, and I am not entirely sure what a 9 month old needs for a week. Luckily I am going to my mamas so I can do washing etc. Still, I am looking at my unfolded pile of washing while I am writing this and dreading the packing.

I might write a list, that will help me procrastinate figure out what I need. I am also dreading the flight. Baby S has been on a plane before but she was 3 months old then and inclined to fall asleep on the breast. Also we are flying a longer distance. What do I take, she loves to move now and is pulling herself up on everything and crawling like mad. We are on a small plane, so I really don't know what I am going to do about it. I think I might just wing it and learn for the flight back.

Right, better get started... I am looking forward to my time away, I hate packing!!
